Some of these chapters have little more than a colour scheme and a chapter symbol – some don’t even have that! Others have far greater detail so there’s plenty to choose from.īasically, I started at the top of the list and went shopping for a chapter. My methodĪfter considering, but ultimately deciding against the Raven Guard, I headed over to the Warhammer 40,000 wiki and its list of known chapters. So, they need painting, which means they need painted as a particular chapter. As I get down to the last couple of hundred figures, I have found some random Space marines miniatures from over the years. This leaves players with the opportunity to take a known chapter (often with their own transfer sheets!), take a lesser known one, or else to invent their own. These chapters range from the so well-known they have their own Codex, chapter-specific rules, and heroes, to somewhat known, to totally unknown. Space Marines in the setting are divided into around 1,000 chapters of about 1,000 marines each. One thing almost every player of Warhammer 40,000 will do is choose a chapter to play with.
